Happy New Year!

I always find January is a good time to reflect upon the year past and set some intentions for the coming twelve months.

When I look back on 2019, there were definitely some highlights professionally and personally.

  • My business had its best year yet – and I continue to feel blessed that I get to help Canadian entrepreneurs grow and be more successful every day.

  • I took on new projects that challenged me to continue to learn and develop.

  • I got to travel to Northern Canada and see the charm of smaller towns like Whitehorse and Yellowknife.

  • I managed to squeeze 44 rounds of golf in this year – and played new courses in Kamloops, Phoenix and Palm Springs.

  • I discovered my ‘inner child’, vacationing with our friends and their children in the desert.

  • I spent time with my family, meeting new additions and marking important moments like my niece’s graduation from her PhD program.

  • I reconnected with some important people in my life who I had lost touch with.

Overall, it was a great year and I am grateful for all the experiences I had!

Looking to 2019, what are my intentions? Well, quite simply, more of the same – and maybe a bit more focus on health – more moving, less screen time.

I think the key to goal setting is not really the goal itself – it’s the process of setting the goal and then developing an intention. If your goal is to run 25 km a week and you only run 20, does that mean you have failed? In my mind, no – because that’s probably 20 km you would not have run if you hadn’t set the intention of running in the first place.

So, don’t be too hard on yourself with your New Years Resolutions. Focus on a few key things and then take steps to make them happen.

Happy New Year!
